Music Bio
Gabriel Collazo (born in 1971) is an American singer-songwriter from Abilene, Texas. His musical style encompasses folk, soul, jazz to rock.
Gabriel’s passion and love for music surfaced at a very early age. At first he pounded on everything in site, his parents finally purchased Gabe his first drum kit at the age of 11. Texas, drums and music; you only know where this is going. Inspired by drumming legends such as Neal Peart, Steve Smith and Peter Chris, Gabriel hit the dusty back roads of Texas eventually joining local Dallas band Jonah Hex. After a hiatus from music, which included launching a successful decorative art company and a fine art career, Gabriel longed for the first love in his life- music.
Picking up his guitar and beginning to beautifully place words, thoughts and moments to paper, a refined Gabriel became inspired in ways he never imagined. Michael Franti, Lyle Lovett, Amos Lee and Prince now inspired singer-songwriter Gabriel Collazo. Without a liaison to a record label, Gabriel found the artistic freedom to create and release his anxiously awaited first work Gabriel Collazo featuring his critically acclaimed song Mexico.
The five latest original songs are best described as a soulful blend of melodic vocals complimented by layers of warm acoustic rhythms, beatlesque percussion and catchy hooks.
Writing, composing, producing, singing, and playing, Gabriel Collazo finds himself a present day music talent with a voice reflecting our times. With his latest effort just the tip of the iceberg – GC plans on a long and prolific career in pursuing what he loves to do.
